Charles Sturt University (Charles Sturt) welcomes Ms Kate Wood-Foye as the newly appointed Director, External Engagement at the University in Port Macquarie.
Associate Professor Laura Dan, Charles Sturt Director of Knowledge Exchange and Engagement, welcomed Ms Wood-Foye to her new position.
“This role highlights the University’s endeavour to build strong, vibrant regional communities with the intellectual and social capital and the infrastructure necessary for the 21st century,” Professor Dan said.
Ms Wood-Foye grew up in the region and brings experience in development of relationships between the community, business, government and the not-for-profit sectors.
On her appointment Ms Wood-Foye said she was excited to be able to work for an organisation that brought opportunities for those on the Mid North Coast to achieve their goals through tertiary education.
“I have a passion for connecting people and community and believe that Charles Sturt University has been a powerful vehicle for transformation and connection within our coastal community.
“I am delighted to be joining in the Charles Sturt University team to build on the excellent foundations of community engagement already established, and look forward to many exciting projects ahead,” Ms Wood-Foye said.
Ms Wood-Foye said she was passionate about working with the community and building on her existing links.
“I have worked within the business community for the last 19 years and most recently through my role with Rydges and Sails Port Macquarie.
“Since its arrival in Port Macquarie I have worked alongside Charles Sturt on many exciting projects including the Luminosity Youth Summit and joint scholarship projects,” said Ms Wood-Foye.
Prior to joining Charles Sturt Ms Wood-Foye was the Area Director of Sales and Marketing encompassing both Rydges Port Macquarie and Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges. As the public face of both entities, Ms Wood-Foye was instrumental in community and client engagement, brand management, sales and marketing campaigns.
Ms Wood-Foye is also the co-founder, Chair and events manager of the national youth leadership event ‘Luminosity Youth Summit’, a national youth forum and conference for young people held in Port Macquarie now in its seventh year.
