FAQ

Why should my business enter the awards / accept our nomination?

Being part of the Awards offers a myriad of benefits:

  • celebrate your team’s business success and reward your staff by bringing them to the gala dinner,
  • increase your business profile,
  • network with other business leaders and professionals, or
  • get some feedback on your own business operations by participating in one of our independently judged categories.
How can I nominate a business for the Awards?

Anyone can nominate a business by completing the nomination form in the Port News or by nominating via the Awards website.

What businesses are eligible to participate?

Any business with premises in the Port Macquarie Hastings Local Government Area are able to participate (and don’t forget to register to vote for the Business Choice categories!)

What will it cost me to participate in the awards?

Nothing! It’s free. The Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce is keen to ensure all businesses can help us celebrate local business by participating in the Awards – so keeping entry free and easy is important to us. Some businesses choose to leverage off their awards nomination with additional paid advertising but there is no obligation to do so.

How are the Awards voted/judged?

We have three category types -

  • Voted by the Public (People Choice) – voting via a form in the Port News
  • Voted by Business (Business Choice categories) – voted by registered Greater Port Macquarie businesses via an on-line survey.
  • Independently Judged Categories – businesses who choose to enter one or more of these categories must complete a short written submission and be willing to be interviewed or have a site visit undertaken. Participating in our judged categories is a great way to conduct some valuable self-analysis and achieve great acclaim in the local business community.
